1. Word that I love…
Most are not familiar with this word, but I think about it a lot. That word is hormesis. It is defined as a biological response where organisms adapt to moderate stressors, which can improve their functionality and tolerance to more severe challenges. Basically, that is saying… what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger… is correct! When you subject yourself to things that are painful, stressful, and tough on the body, your body adapts and responds in ways that make you healthier. This is why strenuous exercise is good for you…as is whole body cryotherapy, ice baths, saunas, and things like these that push your limits. Hormesis is the positive response you get from putting yourself through painful acts.
2. Something that re-impressed me this week…
No matter what anyone thinks of Elon Musk, no one can deny his incredible ability to GET THINGS DONE. A few weeks ago, he had quite a week… launching the Robotaxi, the Robovan, the Optimus Tesla Bot (the robotic humanoid), and what I believe is the MOST impressive… he was able to have the Falcon Heavy rocket land back on earth. This feat is so complex and amazing that it is hard to grasp. This rocket is 15 stories tall, yet was able to land with incredible precision and smoothness. I saw it as it happened, but re-watched it several times this week, and it is just as mind-blowing every time I watch it. See the video below of that landing, as words alone don’t do it justice…
3. Something I pondered a bit this week…
We have approximately 60,000 to 70,000 thoughts each day. Interestingly, 90% of those thoughts are the same as the day before. And 80% of those thoughts are negative. We KNOW that our thoughts affect our destiny. Yet we wonder why nothing seems to change in our lives. It is critical for us to be aware of what we are thinking… to think new, better, bigger thoughts… and to think more positive thoughts. The change you are seeking isn’t because you CAN’T change, it is because your thought process is inhibiting that change. I’m working on improving my thoughts.
