1. Happy Father’s Day!
I would have to attribute much of who I am today because of my dad. What about him had the most impact in my life? Simple… he led by example. I got to see what a dad is supposed to be like by watching him. I remember being in college, and at some point having this very thought… “Wow, my dad was right about everything!” See this week’s blog post I wrote about my dad here.
Happy Father’s Day to all you dads. Your impact cannot be measured. Here is a great poem you might like…
There are little eyes upon you, and they’re watching night and day;
There are little ears that quickly take in every word you say;
There are little hands all eager to do all the things you do,
And a little boy who’s dreaming of the day he’ll be like you.
You’re the little fellow’s idol, you’re the wisest of the wise;
In his little mind about you no suspicions ever rise;
He believes in you devoutly, and holds that all you do
He will say and do in your way when he’s grown up like you.
There’s a wide-eyed little fellow who believes you’re always right,
And his ears are always open and he watches day and night,
You are setting an example every day in all you do,
For the little boy who’s waiting to grow up to be like you.

2. Something I saw this week…
While at the University of Cincinnati this week, I was able to grab a quick workout in their Campus Recreation Center. Wow! I love that universities are making the investment in fitness and wellness. This place has everything you could ever need or imagine. And the equipment is state-of-the-art. This is the best time in history for access to what we need to be well. Every city, school, and even many workplaces have places available for you to get in better shape. No more excuses! The access to gyms is better than ever, and it has become much more affordable. I’m excited to see so many places investing in the health and wellness of their students, employees, and community members. Take advantage! Join a gym and get busy! Here’s a photo of just one of the many sections of University if Cincinnati’s Rec Center… AMAZING!
3. Quick meal…
I’m always looking for quick meals. Here is one that I go to periodically… it’s basically a lettuce wrap, but I eat it like a taco. I start with a large piece of heart of Romaine lettuce, add turkey or chicken, avocado mayo, sliced pickles, avocado, cheese, and maybe sauerkraut, cucumber, and/or tomato. It gives me the protein, healthy fats, and nutrients I need, without refined carbs. And the sauerkraut is the easiest way for me to get fermented foods into my diet. (My favorite is Cleveland Kraut’s Curry Kraut, www.clevelandkraut.com) Very quick, easy to eat, and very filling. It can be tweaked to be fully keto or paleo.
