1. Concept I keep thinking about…
We know that it is when we push ourselves that we experience the most growth. It requires being uncomfortable… uneasy feeling, fear, sweat, tears, and even blood… to become the best versions of ourselves and to live an extraordinary life. I shared a quote with a friend in the office this week as we discussed this concept… “The best adventures often begin with a single step outside the comfort zone.” He then grabbed a post-it note from the shelf and scribbled something on it, handed it to me, and said that this was something they have hanging in their house as a daily reminder. It was a circle with the words “comfort zone” in it. Then off to the side and above it, away from that circle, he drew another circle, and inside that wrote… “where magic happens.” I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! First… it is 100% true. Second… I love the word magic, as this is what I seek (and I hope you do too). Not just good times, nice moments, or easy days… but magical moments, experiences, relationships, and memories. These ONLY occur if you push yourself and force yourself to get out of your comfort zone. See the pic of that simple sketch he made on that post-it note below… and thanks, Andy C., for sharing that!
2. Quote I love…
“You are not spending money, you are buying memories.”
My cousin and I grew up together and are the same age. When I sent him a happy birthday text this week, he sent back “Thanks, bud. We are getting old.” I sent back… “That’s why we go, do, and see.” He and I share the philosophy of not waiting for one day… someday, but instead filling our lives with as many experiences as possible. He then sent back one more text… “So true. I heard someone say, ‘you are not spending money, you are buying memories.’” Wow! How true is that? Thanks for sending that, Eric!
3. Article worth reading…
Lana was reading off emails to me and pulled up an article that was attached to one of them. She started reading it silently to herself, then stopped, and said, “Wow! This is good!” She thought it was good enough to read it to me out loud. It is titled, Our True Path of Service: Facing our Demons, Reintegrating the Minotaur, and Unburying our Transcendent Talents to Find our True Creative Self, by Clintavo. It is loaded with powerful info that ALL of us need to hear. It is kind of a long read, but VERY worth it. You can click here to read it. It also was the inspiration for my blog this week, titled “Your Authentic Self,” which you can read by clicking here. Thanks, Mike D., for taking the time to pass that along! Here are the first two paragraphs of that article…
“The meaning in our lives is found by uncovering who we truly are at our deepest level. Our purpose is to unbury our true nature which will lead us, if we follow it, to our true path of service. And when we find and walk our true path, we live, creatively and in the light, as our true self.
We each have a unique voice, unique talents, unique messages, unique styles, and something unique to give in service of all.” |
